Dave O'Brien
Biography. David joined Risk International in early 2012 as chairman. He arrived after a long career of successfully serving the risk management and insurance brokerage needs of Fortune 1000 companies. He also leads O’Brien Advisors, which provides fiduciary services and risk and insurance management counsel.
His earlier career includes serving as president of Oswald Companies, where he instituted growth strategies that helped reinvent the more than 100-year-old insurance brokerage. During his the last five years leading the Cleveland-based firm, Oswald grew annually at a rate of more than 17 percent on average and broke into the ranking of top forty independent insurance brokerages as judged by Business Insurance. Previously, he served as a sales leader for Marsh & McLennan and Johnson & Higgins, where he led the Kentucky office. During his leadership, the Kentucky office had the distinction of being the fastest growing office of the global insurance brokerage.
David holds designations in Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM). He is also a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).
