Lori L. Siwik, JD
Biography. Lori joined Risk International in 1995 and is responsible for handling all types of complex insurance claims for clients, including the negotiation and settlement of those claims with insurance carriers. She also assists clients on their risk management issues and helps clients locate their missing insurance policies and develop their corporate history portfolios. Her past professional experience includes over seven years in private legal practice with the law firm Roetzel & Andress, where she handled environmental, toxic tort, mass tort, and product liability litigation.
Lori frequently lectures and writes on insurance coverage issues. Her article, “Insurance Coverage for Environmental Liabilities in Commercial Automobile Policies,” was published in Mealey’s Litigation Report: Insurance. Her article, “The Sophisticated User and Bulk Supplier Defense, a Practical Approach to its Application in the 1990's,” was published in BNA's Toxics Law Reporter, BNA's Product Liability and Safety Reporter, and Mealey's Toxics Reporter. She also co-authored the article, “Environmental and Toxic Tort Claims: Are You Covered,” which was published as the lead story in the June 2000 ACCA Docket. Another article, “The Crashing Wave of Asbestos Claims: Practical Suggestions for Staying Afloat,” was published in the ACCA Docket, April 2002 issue. “Terrorism Coverage: What Every Corporate Policyholder Needs to Know” was published in Mealey’s Emerging Insurance Disputes in 2003. “Lost or Missing Policy? The Basics of Insurance Policy Reconstruction” was published in Mealey’s Insurance in 2005. Her numerous other papers were presented at the insurance coverage seminars where she was a speaker.
Lori serves on the board of directors of Risk International, and has served on the board of trustees and chaired several committees of the Akron Bar Association. She was also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association Council of Delegates. She is currently a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association, the Ohio Women’s Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Akron Bar Association. She currently serves as the co-chair of the In-house Subcommittee of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the Section of Litigation, American Bar Association. She is very active in her community, Broadview Heights. She serves on the advisory board of the Broadview Heights Parks and Recreation Department and is a founding board member and officer of The Broadview Heights Community Foundation.
