Experience

Mark R. Siwik, JD

Biography. Mark joined Risk International in 1997 as senior counsel. His expertise includes all aspects of the insurance claim process from policy interpretation to settlement. He has extensive experience resolving environmental and asbestos claims on behalf of policyholders. Mark also lectures and writes on insurance-related subjects for a number of organizations, including the American Corporate Counsel Association and the Risk and Insurance Management Society.

Before joining Risk International, Mark practiced insurance coverage law for two Ohio law firms. Mark also served as a law clerk for Judge John M. Manos of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

In addition to his duties at Risk International, Mark is a member of the Vorkell Group where he trains lawyers on the pursuit of an ethical and value-based approach to the practice of law. Mark speaks regularly to a wide variety of legal audiences on improving the legal profession and his work in this area led to the publication of Success Briefs for Lawyers: Inspirational Insights on How to Succeed at Law and Life (2001). Co-edited by Mark, the Success Briefs book is a collection of inspiring essays on how to achieve a principled and rewarding life in the law.

Mark is a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association, the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Akron Bar Association. He has chaired state and local bar committees on law office technology and the Akron Bar Association has twice honored him for his leadership.
