Kathy Kukor to Speak at National Workers' Comp Conference.
Summary. Kathy Kukor will present “The Erosion of Exclusive Remedy” at the National Worker’s Compensation and Disability Conference® & Expo on Friday, Nov. 11, in Las Vegas.
Fairlawn, Ohio, October 17, 2011 Kathy Kukor, Risk International Senior Consultant, has been selected to speak at the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference® & Expo on Friday, Nov. 11, in Las Vegas. The conference is the nation’s leading training event for workers comp and disability management professionals.
With co-presenter Diana Bentley, Senior Vice President at Marsh, Ms. Kukor will speak on “The Erosion of Exclusive Remedy: What You Need to Know to Protect Your Company.” Conference leaders chose the topic from thousands of speaker proposals.
“Kathy is well known and respected in the workers' comp community, so we are very happy to have her as a speaker,” said Nancy Grover, Program Director. “Her topic is vitally important in the workers' comp system.”
According to Ms. Kukor, “The exclusive remedy doctrine has long been the cornerstone of our workers’ comp system, and it’s in jeopardy. We can’t protect the system unless we understand its weaknesses — as well as the trends threatening it.”
In their presentation, Ms. Kukor and Ms. Bentley will explore recent case law and state legislative reforms that are eroding the exclusive remedy doctrine. They’ll show potential pitfalls of employers’ liability policy language and help employers learn how to minimize exposures and claim payouts.
“The worker’s compensation system, which is intended to protect both employees and employers, is increasingly being threatened,” said Kirk Walsh, Risk International Vice President and Director of Finance. “Every day, there are new and more creative arguments for employees to sue employers. Kathy will help industry professionals learn how to minimize that risk.”
Ms. Kukor will also be a featured speaker at the Western North Carolina Safety and Health Education Conference on November 7th in Asheville, NC.
